How NASA’s Satellites Can Track Wildfires

Wildfires are becoming more common due to climate change.

NASA satellites can help track wildfires in several ways:

  • Identifying areas with a lot of flammable material (dry vegetation) before a fire starts.
  • Giving real-time data on the size and spread of a fire, allowing officials to update evacuation orders.
  • Identifying areas at high risk of landslides after a fire.
